Two thousand years would go by before cannabis was brought to the Americas. Famously, George Washington planted hemp and according to records, he took particular interest in marijuana's medicinal uses.

Marijuana's bad rap didn't come about until the 1900s. Something needed to be done, or at least, that was the common opinion back then. The drug war, initiated by President Nixon, casted a wide net demonizing all drugs, effectively ending medical marijuana in the USA. It took decades for medicinal marijuana to be used again. Of course, dispensaries in California became ubiquitous. And then a watershed moment: Colorado and Washington completely legalized marijuana. Now, not only medical dispensaries are all over Denver, but there are head shops that sell bubble hash to anyone.
